TSI (Texas Success Initiative)
Texas Success Initiative
The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is the statute that requires all Texas public institutions of higher education to determine the college readiness of all non-exempt, entering undergraduate students to enroll in freshmen-level academic courses [refer to Texas Education Code (TEC) 51.336]. Unless a student is TSI exempted or waived, the student is required to take the TSI Assessment Version 2.0 (TSIA2) prior to enrolling in college-ready courses.
If a student has already taken the TSI Assessment that takes precedence for course placement. Students who have an eligible TSI exemption or waiver will be able to enroll as usual. We recommend students contact the Advising office for guidance prior to testing. Cheating on this self-assessment could result in improper course placement, resulting in failure. Students should take a screen shot or picture of the results to email to Academic.Advising@ctcd.edu or EaglesOnCall@ctcd.edu for placement.
Testing Fee: The nonrefundable testing fee is $25 for the entire test or $15 per section. Exact cash is required when paying at the Testing Services office. Individuals are strongly encouraged to prepay at the Business Office, Bldg. 209, 254- 526-1217/1414.and please bring two receipts the day of the test.
