  These programs are designed for the student who wishes to enter the Automotive Repair career field. They provide entry-level, industry-validated, hands-on training covering the entire spectrum of Automotive Service and Repair using the latest technologies in automotive systems, tools, and equipment. Training is to ASE requirements.

Studies include shop operations, tools and equipment, use of computerized publication systems; automotive fundamentals; electrical and electronic systems; fuel systems; A/C and heating systems (R12 and R134A); steering and suspension systems (4-wheel computerized alignment); brake systems (including ABS); standard and automatic transmissions and transaxles; computer systems; engine service, diagnosis and tune-up; and welding.

The Automotive Mechanic/Technician AAS Degree program includes additional academic courses. The technical content of both programs is basically the same. Automotive specialization (brakes, etc.) or update training is available in either program. These programs will prepare the student to take the Automotive ASE certification tests. Interactive computer-aided training is used to enhance some courses.

Level I certificates are designed for the student who wishes to specialize in a "selected" area of the Automotive Service and Repair Industry.


 
The Automotive Technician self-paced certificate programs are available at Central Campus only. The Automotive Mechanic/Technician AAS degree program is available at Central Campus and various Continental and International sites. For more information, see Program Options.

The instructional staff has an average of 31 years field and teaching experience. Other qualifications include: Master ASE certification in Automotive and Mid-Heavy Truck, Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association (ATRA) certification and Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling and Retrofit certification. Their technical expertise is kept current by attending update seminars, trade shows, and manufacturer training.
