Programs of Study
Central Texas College offers several Degree and Certificate of Completion options for students who wish to pursue a career in Radio & Television Broadcasting or other forms of media production.
Associate
of Arts Degree: This option is
the best choice for students who plan to transfer to a 4-year university to a
bachelor's degree in Radio/Television/Film or Journalism.
Associate
of General Studies: (with emphasis
on Radio & Television Broadcasting): This option is the best choice for
students who wish to earn a degree and enter the broadcasting industry after
graduation.
Students may also choose from two Certificate of Completion programs:
The program at Central Texas College stresses hands-on learning in state-of-the-art
laboratory facilities and working within the College's radio and television stations
KNCT-FM and KNCT. Students participate in local productions of both stations
and may apply for paid employment opportunities as student staff of the stations.
The faculty of the department are individuals who have extensive professional
experience in broadcasting and production. Drawing from their many years of
experience in the field, instructors guide students through the development and
refinement of their individual talents.
Students have ample opportunity to participate in local productions of KNCT and KNCT-FM. Many local broadcasting stations and media companies regularly recruit students from the CTC broadcasting program to fill part-time and full-time openings at the local stations. Tours of the stations and a meeting with faculty are available by appointment.
