The Human Services Program at Central Texas College offers an AAS Program in Chemical Dependency. Upon completion of all coursework and the 300-hour practicum, students are eligible to become a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor-Intern (LCDC-I). Once the LCDC-I is acquired, Interns can work in the field, under supervision, while they complete their 4000 hours of supervised work experience.
When all requirements are met, Interns can sit for the licensing exam, and with a passing score become licensed as an LCDC by Texas Health and Human Services. More information can be found at: https://www.hhs.texas.gov/business/licensing-credentialing-regulation/professional-licensing-certification-compliance/licensed-chemical-dependency-counselor-program/lcdc-new-license-registration.
The Human Services Program also offers the Community Health Worker (CHW) certification classes. Upon completion of our program, students are eligible to be certified as a CHW and go to work in their communities. More information can be found at: https://www.dshs.texas.gov/mch/chw/chwdocs.aspx.
