If you are interested in joining one of our programs and you are prior military, please ensure your military credits are evaluated for a general studies degree to allow us to assess what credit we may be able to accept.

In addition, certain courses in the Human Services Program may be available by Challenge Examination or for evaluated work-related credit if the appropriate criteria are met as stated below. The first step towards receiving evaluated credit is for the student to meet the following Central Texas College requirements:

  • Students must have successfully completed at least six semester hours with grade of "C" or better with CTC (GPA 2.00)
  • Students on financial or academic hold are not eligible for final evaluation of nontraditional educational experiences unit the hold is cleared
  • Students pursuing a technical/vocational program may be required to repeat major field of study courses if the degree program is not completed within five years

Once the college requirements listed above are met and students also meet the eligibility requirements below, students may request, through the department, permission to take a challenge examination for certain courses. Students are only allowed to take a challenge exam for a course once and must score a minimum of 80 percent or higher to receive evaluated credit. An application for challenging a course must be completed and returned to the Central Texas College Testing office with the nonrefundable fee.
