If your question is not listed here, Ask a Librarian.

How do I find a book?

  • On the main CTC homepage, under “Academics” select “Library” and then “More Resources.” From the Library’s homepage, click the large red tab labeled “Catalog.”  Use the search bar to search by title, subject, or author.    Under the blue search button you also will see an “Advanced Search” option where you can enter more than one search field.

How do I access the databases to find an article?

  • Logging into the databases requires specific steps.  The username is the small letter “c” followed by the first seven digits of your CTC id number.  For example, c0246891. Password is your initials capitalized, followed by your birthday in a 2 digit format.

For example, Abigail Smith, November 5, 1988 would be AS110588.   The complete login is:

    c0246891

    AS110588

You can then search subsequent databases without having to log in again.

What are the library hours?

  • Our hours vary each day.

    Monday & Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.
    Tuesday & Wednesday 7:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
    Friday: Closed
    Saturday: Closed
    Sunday 12:30 - 7:30 p.m.

  • Call (254) 526-1621 for holiday and between semester hours.
  • Multimedia Lab closes 15 minutes before library closes.

May I use the library if I am not a student?

  • Yes, Hobby Memorial library is open to the public.  You may use library resources and services while in the building, including books, magazines, and reference materials.  Study rooms and public computers may be used with a government ID such as a driver’s license.

May I print something or make copies? If so, is there a fee?

  • Black and white copies are 25 cents a side, color copies are 50 cents a page, and faxes are 50 cents a page.  Cash only.  A scanner is available for free scanning with some limits on time usage.  Scans may be emailed to one’s own account or saved on a flash drive.

How do I renew my books?

  • You may renew your books online by following these steps:
  • From the WMS Discovery page , at the top right, you can access your account.
  • First time users will need to use the set/reset password to set their password.
  • Your login name is your CTC ID or one provided to you by the library.
  • Your email is set to automatically use your Eaglemail account.

Does the library have wireless Internet (WiFi)?

  • Yes. Choose “CTC Open” to be connected for both students and public.

Do you have all the textbooks I need for my courses?

  • The library does not carry ALL required textbooks, but you may check to see what books are on Reserves by selecting “Course Reserves” under “Services for Students.”

Do I need a separate library card?

  • Current students, staff and faculty only need their CTC ID.  If you do not have one, please go to the Student Services, Building 119 and they can issue one to you.

Where is the library?

  • We are Bldg. 240, north of the Anderson Campus Center.  If you can see the bell tower and the duck pond near Bell Tower Drive, we are the large building behind those landmarks. You may park on either side of the Campus Center, or at the Administration Building on the corner of Academic Drive and Bell Tower Road.

How can I ask for help?

  • Phone: (254) 526-1621 or Text: (254) 400-2275
  • Email: [email protected]
  • Form: Ask a Librarian
  • Live Chat: Live Chat (available during the library's open hours)

Do I buy/rent my textbooks at the library?

  • No, textbooks may be purchased at the CTC Bookstore in the Anderson Campus Center. You may reach them at (254) 526-1219

How do I locate a journal article/streaming video/newspaper/eBook?

  • On the main CTC homepage, under “Academics” select “Library” and then “More Resources.” From the Library’s homepage, click the large red tab labeled “Databases.” When you select “Databases” you will see a list of databases, and most require logging in.  After you search you can follow the prompts on the side menu to narrow your results to full articles and by date of publication.

If you do not find results you need, a librarian will be glad to help you.
