Chancellor's Welcome

James R. Anderson, Ph.D., Chancellor Distance learning continued to be a major focus during the past year. The market was more competitive than ever, but we managed to maintain our position thanks to the dedication of our staff and faculty. We participated in the Army's launch of "GoArmyEd," once again leading the way in Army education. Our distance learning course catalog continues to grow, and now 18 degrees and 16 certificates may be completed entirely online.

I'm especially proud of our Continental, Pacific Far East and Europe campuses which have transitioned with us to the new GoArmyEd system. Each campus serves our military men and women with great pride and compassion, and our staff goes above and beyond to ensure our soldiers receive a quality education.

Our foreign language schools at Fort Lewis, Washington, Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Fort Hood, Texas, continue to thrive in the high operations tempo military environment. We provide instruction in 26 languages, including Arabic, Urdu and Farsi.

Back at home in Central Texas, our Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team continued its success with a tenth regional championship and a fourth place finish in national competition. Our aviation team and our forensics team have taken on four-year institutions in competitions and won, which speaks volumes for the caliber of our students and faculty.

We have focused on increasing enrollments in dual credit courses, in partnership with Killeen and Copperas Cove Independent School Districts, which are good for the parents and students in our community. This year, for the first time, dual credit courses were offered in all five local high schools.

We look forward to 2007 as another year of growth, challenge and change. We hope to begin implementation of our new long-term facilities master plan which will bring improvements for our students, faculty, staff and community.

Thank you,

James R. Anderson, Ph.D.
