The programs listed above are all offered through the Vocational Skills Center and are accredited by the Southern Association of College and Schools (SACS). You earn college semester credit hours in these programs. In most cases, courses will articulate one-for-one to an AAS degree program. If you plan to transfer these credits to another College or University, you should visit a guidance counselor or contact the College or University to which you plan to transfer.
Competency Based: The programs are based on theory and a series of competencies or tasks. Tasks to be learned are "industry validated" through Advisory Committees which are made up of industry representatives. Tasks are updated as industry changes.
NOTE: You must register for the self-paced programs at Central Campus and must go through the Department Chair (Room F-17) and/or the Skills Center Counselors in Room F-14 of the Vocational Skills Center, Building 118, before going to the Registration office. Normal registration office hours are:
8:30 am - 10:00 pm Monday through Thursday
8:00 am - 11:30 am Friday
Evening students should keep these times in mind. You may need to come to campus early or possibly the next day to enroll in your next course.
Paying for the Program: All programs qualify for Tuition Assistance, Financial Aid and for use of VA benefits,(qualified applicants) or you may pay for the program yourself. Financial Aid students must go through the Financial Aid office. VA students must go through the VA office. Tuition Assistance students must go through the Army Education Center. Programs also qualify for scholarships and most other funding that students receive.
Other Certificate Programs: If interested in Cosmetology, you should see Dianne Dudley in Room F-17C in the Vocational Skills Center, Building 118, on Central Campus. The THEA-exempt Cosmetology program prepares you for state license exams.
Specific Job Skills Courses: Some departments offer programs which contain a grouping of courses that you may enroll in if you want to "specialize" in a given area or improve your current skill level. Most of these specialized areas will require you to take two or more courses that are related to the occupational area. These include:

Evaluated credit will not be given for courses waived in this situation. Certificates are not issued for these courses. The College transcript will serve as proof of training.
